We're looking to build "30 in3"—that's 30 miles of infrastructure projects to make Bentonville a safer, more connected city using the Connecting Bentonville master plan as our guide. The following are just some of the safe and functional infrastructure projects already open or underway for the benefit of all drivers, bicyclists, and walkers and allowing mobility for all ages, incomes and abilities within the city.

Both sides of the elevated multi-modal bridge over NE A Street opening
The mountain bike section of this dual-purpose bridge had been closed since late May due to tornado damage. With the full reopening of the bike and pedestrian bridge, Bentonville residents and visitors now have enhanced access to the Razorback Greenway and All-American trails near the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

SW Gator to SW Morningstar street improvements
The new street will extend SW Gator, connecting it to SW Morningstar, creating another essential east/west route.
Key features include: .5 miles of improvements, 3 lanes for vehicles and bus transit, green space for a pleasant environment, a 5’ sidewalk on one side and a 12’ shared use path on the other side, part of the future SW trail loop

SW Bentonville Trail connection
The new SW Bentonville Trail connection, linking Bentonville Community Center to Willowbrook Elementary and Bright Field Middle School improves safety and back-to-school traffic for biking students and connects to several key trails, including Wolf and Cub Trails and the Gator Road Extension.

Gateway Park Groundbreaking with Bentonville Parks and Recreation
8th Street Gateway Park is a brand new center for community recreation and urban nature for Bentonville, as well as a beginner mountain bike destination for Northwest Arkansas. It sits on an estimated 100 acres of natural space with an extensive tree canopy with the park itself divided into three core sections with dedicated space to explore, play, gather and commune.

Gateway Park Ribbon Cutting + After Party celebration
Gateway Park, located at 1815 SW 8th Street, sits on an estimated 100 acres of natural space with an extensive tree canopy. The park is divided into three cores or sections with dedicated space to explore, play, gather, and commune. A sneak peak into some of the key features of the project itself include a destination playground, pavilion, event plaza, active and passive recreation areas, access to trail connections, and a state-of-the-art wheel sports garden for stunts, skills, and sessions.

NW B Street Sharrow Project
This project will extend from Park Springs Park (NW 10th) to RE Baker Elementary, featuring shared use lane sharrows, sidewalk repairs, new signage, and improved crosswalks. It’s all about creating a safer route for cyclists and pedestrians alike as they head to the park or school.
BENTONVILLE IS ON THE MOVE
The 2024 polling results are exciting! These results show a majority of the public supports the Connecting Bentonville Plan, especially when connectivity and safety are prioritized. Some key findings include:
A majority support the Connecting Bentonville Plan. Eighty-nine percent (89%) of voters support the plan’s implementation. [up 9pts from 80% in 2023]
Seventy-four percent (74%) believe the city needs to act quickly so people can get around without putting more cars on the road. [up 14pts from 60% in 2023]
People feel that motorists and bike riders share responsibility for following the laws and promoting safety.Seventy-three percent (73%) of voters believe it’s important to support a separated mobility network so everyone can get around more safely and easily.
